Glass Ceiling
Written by Dan Powell, Nathan Ryan, Ben Hawkins & Tyrone Samuels
Directed by Dan Powell
Taking its cue from this year's riots, this play makes a fascinating andmoving comment on contemporary life. "The UK's social problems have explodedin our face...the worst cases of greed, irresponsibility and entitlement"David Cameron, 2011.
Sam sits nervously outside the interview room, completely unaware of whatfaces him inside. As he looks around at Leeds University's grandarchitecture, he feels small, insignificant and unworthy. Sam knows thatthis is his big chance to escape; escape his dead-end life in a dead-endtown...the haunting fate that he has been scurrying from all of his life.
But what can Sam do when he cannot escape, no matter how hard he tries;cannot avoid the same uninspiring destiny of his peers; and cannot breakthrough the Glass Ceiling.
This personal account of the rioting in England and its deep-rooted social, economic and political causes is intended to produce not only an engagingstory but a strong, often uncomfortable, set of moral / political questionsfor our society.

Class is now firmly established on Wednesdays in the small hall, with a very friendly group of "regulars". At £4 a session to CA Members, it's eminently affordable. I'm finding it personally invaluable in keeping my hand in with acting skills and sessions are structured to make it accessible to beginners and experienced performers alike. Drop in and enjoy!
Please note that class does not happen on the first Wednesday of the month.
Participants are required to Join the Community Association. This sounds complicated but it's not, nor is it expensive at around £10 or less (and the bar's good!
Call us on 01279 639170 or 01279 724224 and we'll happily explain.
